About Us
At Terina's Dawg Spaw we put our love for pets and their owners into all that we do.
Our Story
We are a small scale, individually owned grooming salon, conveniently located just 5 minutes from I69 in Eastern Greene County. You will find us just 1/2 mile off Hwy 54, surrounded by beautiful, mature poplar trees. You can choose to go home and relax, head in to Bloomington, Bloomfield or Bedford for shopping or enjoy some of our awesome local "must see" locations while your pet is being pampered!!

We first opened our doors May 2020 with the goal of taking care of 135 pets over the course of our first year. Nearly 4 years, 565 owners and 843 pets later we continue to develop and grow to meet our customer's needs. We feel honored and blessed to have been trusted with the care of all of these beloved pets!!!!

Meet Team Dawg Spaw!

Terina Bowlen-Salon owner/lead groomer

Terina is an academy trained groomer, that holds multiple certificates within the industry. She groomed her first dog, an 8 wk old schnauzer puppy, almost 30 years ago! At the time, she was working as a vet assistant and filled in the grooming department when needed. She went on to spend several years in the equine industry before finding herself coming full circle back to the grooming world. In 2008 she decided to attend grooming academy and has been firmly rooted in that world since.

Terina feels super blessed to be able to have her salon on the family property that is so aptly named "Windy Poplars". The beautiful setting is not only home to her and her husband, but her father in law and her parents as well. The property also holds their miniature horse farm. These tiny equines always enjoy a few pets if you would like to say hello after you drop your doggo for a groom!

Cynthia Backwell --Groomer
A self described "gear head", Cynthia has a history in drag racing and auto mechanics as a hobby! Who knew, right?? She lives locally with her husband Troy and their 3 cats.

After several years in the customer service world, she decided she was ready for a change. She has always had a love of animals, so when given the opportunity to take our FT bather position, she jumped at the chance. She wasn't a bather very long before she began grooming training. With her affinity towards cats we decided to open our salon to kitties and train her to groom them as well. We lovingly call her our "crazy cat lady"! After a year of grooming, she says that she prefers working with "people" that don't talk back! lol

Teneka Turpin- Full-time bather/grooming apprentice
If the picture didn't give it away, Teneka is Terina's daughter. lol After leaving home for college she found herself in Northern Indiana for the last several years. She is a mother of four and has recently decided to relocate back home to raise her family. Her fiance' and his four children will be joining her shortly! Whew!! Now THAT'S a house full!!! After a few months of bathing, she has decided she wants to groom. She is currently in training and will be added to the full time grooming schedule Jan 2025! Look for some pics of her first grooms on our social media!!
Kaylee Bolton-Full time bather
Kaylee is a full time college student at Liberty University, studying religion, with a goal of becoming a youth minister. It is evident when you speak to her that it is her calling. During the holidays you may see her helping Santa visit the children at the mall!

Libby Stanco--Barn Girl! lol Libby's main roll here is to take care of our miniature horses. Many times when you come in you will find her exercising them in the round pen or bathing them in front of the salon. You also will see her put on her bather shoes on Saturdays before she makes her way to the barn.
